Below is the daily itinerary for this private 4 day Marrakech Desert Tour. It gives you a clear idea of each day, the main places you will visit, and what to expect during the journey from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert and back.
DAY 1: MARRAKECH CITY ⇢ HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS ⇢ SKOURA ⇢ DADES GORGES
Your 4 day desert tour starts from your hotel or riad in Marrakech around 8:00 AM. We leave the city and drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters. Along the way, we stop for panoramic views, photos, and small Berber villages built into the mountains.
After lunch in Ouarzazate, we continue toward Skoura Oasis, known for its palm groves and old kasbahs. If time allows, we can stop near Kasbah Amridil for photos before driving through the Valley of Roses. This peaceful valley is famous for its rose water and spring rose harvest.
By evening, we arrive in Dades Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in southern Morocco. You will see dramatic rock formations, quiet villages, and the famous “monkey fingers” cliffs before checking into your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: DADES GORGES ⇢ TODRA CANYON ⇢ MERZOUGA DESERT
After breakfast in Dades Valley, we continue toward the Sahara Desert. The road passes old kasbahs, palm groves, and small villages before reaching Todra Canyon, one of the most impressive natural places in southern Morocco. Here, you can enjoy a short walk between the high rock walls and take beautiful photos.
After Todra, the landscape slowly changes from green valleys to wide desert plains. We stop for lunch on the way, then continue to Merzouga, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi begin to appear on the horizon.
In the late afternoon, your camel trek starts across the dunes at sunset. You will ride through the soft sand, enjoy the changing colors of the desert, and arrive at your Sahara camp. In the evening, enjoy a Moroccan dinner, local music around the fire, and a peaceful night under the stars.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA ⇢ RISSANI ⇢ AGDEZ ⇢ OUARZAZATE CITY
Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, one of the most beautiful moments of the Sahara experience. After breakfast at the camp, you return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, then start the journey toward Ouarzazate by a different scenic road.
Our first stop is Rissani, a historic desert town once used by old trade caravans. If it is market day, you can visit the local souk, where people from nearby villages come to buy and sell spices, dates, animals, and traditional goods.
We then continue through the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s longest and most beautiful palm valleys. The road follows thousands of palm trees, old kasbahs, and peaceful villages before reaching Ouarzazate in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4: OUARZAZATE ⇢ AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH ⇢ TELOUET KASBAH ⇢ MARRAKECH CITY
After breakfast in Ouarzazate, we start the final day with a visit to Kasbah Taourirt, one of the city’s most important historic kasbahs. Then we continue to Ait Ben Haddou, a famous UNESCO World Heritage village built from clay and stone. You will have time to walk through its old streets, see the traditional houses, and enjoy the view from the top.
Ait Ben Haddou is also known as a filming location for movies and series such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After the visit, we stop for lunch near the kasbah before continuing through the Ounila Valley toward Telouet Kasbah, an old and historic palace with beautiful details inside.
In the afternoon, we cross the High Atlas Mountains again through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass. The tour ends with drop off at your hotel or riad in Marrakech in the evening.

Yes, there is electricity at the desert camp, usually in the common area like the restaurant tent, and sometimes in the luxury tents. You can charge your things. Just remember to bring your charger and maybe a power bank.
Yes, you can. Quad biking or buggy riding on the dunes is available as an extra fun activity in Merzouga. You can tell your guide you want to do this, and he will help you arrange it when we are there. This is a separate cost.
